The Bolsonaro government has filed a criminal complaint against journalist Greenwald after he revealed unpleasant stories about this same government, which is a clear attack against press freedom. To support press freedom, we at Tutanota are donating our secure email service as well as Secure Connect to journalists around the world! ✊ #PressFreedom #Brazil

This is fun and sad at the same time 😳

"A YouTuber got the inflammatory right-wing commentator Katie Hopkins to fly to Prague to pick up a fake award whose initials spelled out the C-word"

:mastodon: + (:scaleway:+:bunnycdn:) = πŸŽ‰

Yesterday, just because, I moved the media files of my tiny Mastodon instance to Scaleway S3 Object Storage and start using BunnyCDN to deliver them worldwide!

I will probably post a proper "How to" on my blog in the near future.

It was easy, mostly because I got the help of this post by @angristan

Thank you, Stanislas! And by the way, good luck today with your job interview πŸ˜€

Besides the improvement in resource utilization for the fediverse, I think Social Media would benefit from becoming ephemeral. It really feels dangerous for us to have a boat anchor around our necks for the rest of our lives tainting our reputation, whether it be tied to our real identity our an anonymous identity we've established online.

We are broadcasting thoughts, ideas, and jokes which will not age well. It's no different than having ad-hoc conversations with friends, peers, and strangers.

As the super-cancelled Louis CK said recently (summarized), "social media is just talk. it's meaningless. people just give it credence because it's written down."

The current state of social media makes it far too easy to forget that your actions are largely immutable in the mind of the internet, but we can improve it. Post archivers, search engines, and uncooperative federated software may not obey your wishes entirely, but that doesn't mean we should give up.

β€œThe lesson is that privacy is public β€” it is a collective good that is logically and morally inseparable from the values of human autonomy and self-determination upon which privacy depends and without which a democratic society is unimaginable.”

Had tested :nextcloud: Nextcloud 18, that integrates OnlyOffice, in the past few days, and today I finally concluded my "How to" install it on Ubuntu.

At this point, I believe self-hosting is the best way to ensure the privacy of your files. You can do it with Nextcloud for less than $5 a month.

Have a look at my posts and give it a try. I'm not a SysAdmin expert and if I'm doing it, you can do it too!

To the ones into Endurance Motorsport Racing, Daytona 24h is about to begin and you can follow the entire race on IMSA site :mastowink:

Here's a good primer on Ethical Consumerism. This is definitely something I need to do better at.

You think tech folks are smart. Truth is, most tech folks are so dumb they can’t understand why the equivalent of Greenpeace being funded by ExxonMobil is a problem when it happens in tech with so-called freedom and human rights orgs/events funded by Google, Facebook, and Palantir.

Welcome to my new 🏑 on the Fediverse!

Since when I first joined Mastodon my goal was to host my own instance of one.

I made my first steps on the Fediverse on and have to thank @angristan for keeping the instance alive for the community. You're doing a great job and I have already learned a lot with you. I will get back if I fail in this endeavour of host my own instance!
